2018 BMFA League 1

All weathers at Levisham

The first league event got off to a good start, with 17 entrants battling it out on the Levisham slope. A total of nine rounds were flown.

While it was sunny most of the time, there was a single stoppage for rain which necessitated a restart of the round. Flying conditions were quite testing, with a turbulent breeze mixed in with the odd thermal - in other words, typical Levisham!

Rich Bago took top honours, flying his FS5 with great flair. Steve Haley was not far behind with his Pike Precision 2, and Pete Gunning took third spot. Honourable mentions too, for Nigel Witchalls and Brett Larrett who achieved personal bests.

The prize for eye candy went to the Redshift, designed by Jim Hammond in Taiwan, and flown by Greg Dakin, John Phillips and Mark Passingham. This model is refreshingly different, with an unusually high aspect ratio and rather fetching colour scheme. "Team Redshift" took 5th, 6th and 7th places.
