Pete Gunning launches his model
League 3 at the Hole of Horcum
In spite of a less than ideal wind forecast, it turned out to be a splendid competition, with 13 competitors battling it out on the NE slope at the Hole of Horcum.
Conditions were quite thermic at times, but the wind speed - and consistency - improved through the day. In fact the only problem was seeing the bases through a jungle of bracken!
Mark Redsell dominated the field from the start, quietly winning 8 of the 12 rounds with his FS6. Rich Bago was a solid runner up with his Freestyler, and I managed third place with my Pike Precision 2 just pipping John Phillips to the line.
Other notable performances included Aleix Ingles who held on to second place for the first five rounds before slipping down the table. And Mike Evans, thankfully recovering well from a nasty prang on his bike, took fifth place - and won a round.
My sincere thanks to Mark Treble, Rich Bago and Jon Edison for a splendid day's competition.
