2026 BMFA F3F League 2, Eastbourne

Dave Demott was the winner, here launching for John Phillips
BMFA League 2, Eastbourne
F3F isn't meant to be easy, or even consistent - that's part of the mystery and (arguably) the attraction of this great class. One day you may be at the Bwlch in ballistic conditions. Next time it might be another slope in more demanding circumstances.
The challenge at the Long Man was the combination of strong wind, shallow bowl, and bases at different levels. Not to mention a fairly narrow strip in which to land. Never were technique and fortitude more urgently required. Fortunately, fifteen cheerful pilots were well up for the challenge!
The comp
Greg Dakin kicked off the leader board, taking Round One with a 44.62 run, followed by Mark Treble and John Phillips.
Greg's lead was short lived though, with Dave Demott's second place in Round Two putting him in the lead, which he held on to for the remaining six rounds. A perfect demonstration of fast, consistent piloting. Dave was flying a Wasabi.
Runner up was John Phillips with his Wyvern and the final podium position went to Joel West.
It was good to see Simon K competing once more, plus two new pilots Alex Maryon-Davis (flying a Skorpion) and Steve Schafer (Elita). All three flew very well, Steve getting fastest time of the competition with his venerable model. Come again, guys!
Acknowedgements
Many thanks to Allen Elliott, John Phillips and Mark Treble. And to the phantom buzzer man from the ESSA, who did a sterling job on Base A :-)
